In this spot stood a mighty elk, if you are a Portlander you adored this creature. It was moved for it’s safety and the safety of others, because protestor and or exciters chose to deface it as it became a fire pit.

It was replaced by another, ‘the nightmare elk’. I don’t know if that was it’s official title but that is an accurate description.. it stood about ten feet tall black and frightening.

I suggested to a peer that an “eternal flame” would be an appropriate replacement (for the original elk), he agreed saying the “Burning Man” people might be able to make that happen. I’d call the City of Portland myself to petition for it but I dont know what channels t reach out to but I think I just dont like using the phone that much.

I think it should be organic, such as my reaching out to you or finding a grill to do it myself.

Can you see the vision and motive.

A real eternal flame may be hazardous above ground so maybe a structure sturdy enough to host a bowl that would be used specifically for the purpose of lighting a flame… Such as the Olympic flame? Something the people can do ceremonially.

I feel the City of Portland need this, and I mean the People of Portland.
